THE LIMERICK Ladies footballers will look to boost their promotion hopes this weekend. Limerick host Louth this Sunday at 2pm in Newcastle West in round six of the league. Mike Quilligan and Sean Kiely's side sit in sixth place on seven points.
Sean Kiely said the Shannonsiders aim is to now push for promotion.
“There's a lot of learnings been taken from the games. As time has gone on, we have improved. We want to push on with the two games left and there's still an opportunity to make the top two and that's our aim at the moment,” said Kiely.
“It comes as no surprise to us on how we are performing. We know what we are capable of and we were lucky enough to add girls to the panel this year.”
Kiely feels it's more attractive for Limerick players to commit to the ladies football panel now.
“It's a really competitive atmosphere in there. Players want to come in and are asking the questions about the opportunities. It's a great enviroment.”
Louth currently sit in fourth place in the table on nine points. Carol Bateman and Lauren Ryan are progressing well from their respective injuries.
“There's still two games to go. It's about turning up against Louth and putting in a performance and trying to take points out of there. “
Limerick then travel to Cavan in round seven of the league on March 29.
