The Monaleen Gaelic4Mothers and Others team that will travel to New York this weekend
MONALEEN'S Gaelic4Mothers and Others team will travel to New York this weekend to represent Limerick in the New York Ladies Gaelic Football Festival of Sport.
Having played in Croke park last year, playing in New York is a great follow up in 2024. The side were picked back in February to represent the Treaty County.
They will also be joined by Gerald Griffins in America as the second Limerick team involved in the tournament.
The Gaelic4Mothers and Others initiative is an innovative way to introduce mothers and other women to playing Ladies Gaelic Football. It is an initiative that sees women playing Ladies Gaelic Football in a fun, non-competitive and social environment.
It is geared to those who never played gaelic football or who have not played it for a considerable time. The fact that seven of Monaleen’s players did not grow up in Ireland is testimony to the fact that you need not have played when you were young.
The Monaleen ladies have an action packed weekend with a welcome reception this evening.
Saturday is crammed busy with games against Carrickcruppen (Armagh), Timahoe (Laois), Rathvilly (Carlow), Rockland Gaels New York and St John Bosco (Down). It promises to be a fantastic weekend.
