THIS weekend the main focus in junior soccer circles is on representative football with both the Limerick District League junior and youth sides in Munster final action.

On Saturday afternoon, Limerick take on the Cork Youth League in Carrig Park, Fermoy at 2.00pm.

The LDL beat their Desmon League neighbours to reach the final. Goals from Oisin Healy and Oscar Fitzgerald secured a 2-1 win.

Limerick might find the Cork AUL a tougher nut to crack but they have some serious talent in the side so will not be intimidated.

Limerick will field from the following players: Sam Casey Aisling Annacotty, Jack Croke Pike Rvs, Jack Meaney Pike Rvs, Dion Lynch Aisling Annacotty, Cian O’Haodha Aisling Annacotty, Oisin Healy Pike Rvs, Chad Molloy Fairview Rgs, Mike Omojoefoden Fairview Rgs, Cathal McNamara Pike Rvs, Joe Murphy Pike Rvs, Zac McInereny Fairview Rgs, Subs; Ben Kiely Aisling Annacotty, Oscar Fitzgerald Aisling Annacotty, Bryan Mambouana Pike Rvs, Sean Downes, Pike Rvs, Eoin Williams Aisling Annacotty, Rory Hanly Holycross, Dion Begley, Fairview Rgs.

A day later, the Oscar Traynor side will take on the Munster Senior League at the same venue in the Munster Final with the winners guaranteed a place in the semi finals of the tournament.

Limerick were good in their opener, a 4-2 win away to the Clare DL. Conor Coughlan scored three on the night with Darragh Rainsford also netting.

The Munster Senior League beat the Cork Shipping League in the semi-final and with home advantage will fancy their chances.

However, Limerick have a strong squad at their disposal this season with Steven McGann joining up with the squad for this round.

The Oscar Traynor put paid to the Premier League fixtures this weekend but the local fans can take in one of the games in a thrilling Premier A promotion race.

Three of the four sides locked together at the top of the table are in action this weekend. Newport Town will be expected to keep on their winning ways against Southend while joint leaders Moyross Utd A welcome Caherdavin Celtic.

Star Rovers, also joint leaders, face a trickier assignment away to Regional Utd B while Aisling Annacotty B host Carew Limerick Utd in the final fixture.

In Division 1A, joint leaders Herbertstown A and Shelbourne A take on Caherconlish and Corbally Utd B respectively.

Murroe A welcome Pallas Utd while Granville Rangers host Parkville A.

Division 2A leaders Hyde Rangers B can move further clear if they can win at home to Aisling Annacotty C.

Murroe C can strengthen their grip on the lead in Division 3A if they beat Balla C while Athlunkard Villa C will be looking to keep pace when they play Parkville B.

In the FAI U17 Cup Newport Town welcome Clare side Bridge Utd while in the Munster FAI U17 CUP last sixteen tie, Pike Rvs are on the road to take on Tramore AFC in Waterford.
