LEAGUE GAMES:
Pike Rovers 0 Nenagh AFC 0
PIKE Rvs' title aspirations took a nose dive on Sunday when they were held to a scoreless draw by Nenagh at the Pike Club.
The result leaves the destination of the title firmly in Fairview Rgs hands as they hold an 11-point lead with only two games extra played. (Fairview received a walkover in their game with Carew Park on Sunday)
Few gave Nenagh any hope going into the game but Nathan Kelly made light of that assumption when he struck the crossbar inside ten minutes.
Pike’s best chance in the first half fell to Seamus O’Carroll with a bullet header from Morrissey’s cross but it was well saved by stand-in keeper Mark McKenna.
In the second half, Pike had the majority of the possession but poor finishing and a well organised Nenagh defence kept them at bay.
Nenagh could have won it on 80 minutes when Kelly was denied by a fine save from Gary Neville.
Pike threw everything at Nenagh goal in the closing stages but again their defence stood tall under the guidance of McKenna.
