OSCAR TRAYNOR TROPHY
Limerick District League 3 Munster Senior League 2
LIMERICK District League qualified for the final of the Munster Region of the Oscar Traynor Trophy following a 3-2 win over the Munster Senior League on Sunday afternoon.
Limerick got the job done but had to do it the hard way coming from behind on two occasions before snatching it at the death.
No doubting the hero of the hour as Pike Rvs centre back Adam Lipper scored all three goals for the winners.
The home side started well with Adam Foley skimming the post in the opening minutes before Joel Coustrain went inches wide with an effort.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play on the half hour mark when Stephen Osborne Kennedy scored form a tight angler.
Foley went close again before the break when his effort was knocked onto the crossbar but Limerick emerged after the break determined and got their reward when Lipper’s outstretched leg put the finishing touch to Coustrain’s cross.
A lack of concentration allowed the visitors to regain the lead within a minute when failure to mop up at the back allowed Adam O’Callaghan through to score.
It looked like that would be enough to see the Corkmen through but with the 90 minutes played Limerick won a corner and Coustrain’s front post delivery made it’s way to Lipper who knocked the ball home.
With extra-time looming, Limerick struck again. A hand ball in the area presented Lipper with the opportunity to claim a unique hat trick and he duly obliged to secure the win for the home side.
Limerick will now meet the Waterford League in the Munster decider.

Star Rvs 2 Pearse Celtic 0
STAR Rvs qualified for the last eight of the Munster Shield Trophy with a 2-0 win over Pearse Celtic at Lee Estate in Sunday afternoon.
The home side left it to see off a hard-working Cork side but few will dispute it was a deserved win.
There was only minutes left in the tie when the ball fell to the injured Emmet Hehir outside the box, who let fly more in hope than expectation as the ball flew to the net.
It was cruel on the visitors and to make sure there was no late drama, Star tacked on a second in injury time when Arron Nunan netted from the spot after Jake Downey had been fouled.

PIKE Rvs qualified for the last eight of the FAI Youth Cup when they recorded a 3-1 win over local rivals Regional Utd.
Cian Punch put Pike ahead on the half hour mark running onto Scott Maguire’s through ball to slot the ball past Crowley in the Regional goal.
The winners doubled their lead five minutes into the second half when Aaron Cusack cut in from the left and picked out the unmarked Cameron Walsh who scored from an acute angle.
Pike completed their tally when Finn Morrison headed home Cameron Walsh’s inswinging free kick.
Regional got a consolation goal in the late in the tie but Pike held on to progress.
TUOHY CUP
Mungret Reg 1 Regional Utd 1
(Regional won on pens)
Regional United qualified for the final of the Tuohy Cup following a penalty shoot-out win over neighbours Mungret Regional at Jackman Park on Wednesday evening.
With little to choose between the sides, the game was always going to e a tight affair, witnessed by a scoreless first half.
Mungret took the lead on the hour mark through top scorer Hamza Selman Celik and it looked like that goal would suffice to secure a final spot.
However, with seven minutes to play substitute Adam Fitzpatrick struck to level the tie and in the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Regional kept their nerve to progress. They will meet either Fairview or Aisling in the decider.

LAWSON CUP
Fairview Rgs 3 Pike Rovers 0
FAIRVIEW Rgs recorded an easier than expected win over Pike Rvs in miserable conditions at the Fairgreen on Thursday evening.
The Blues showed more appetite for the fray to record a deserved win, and their reward is a bout with either Star Rvs or Charleville for a place in the last 16.
Fairview were out of the traps in full flow, and they opened the scoring after six minutes when Adam Dore picked out Darragh Rainsford who beat his marker to the ball to finish.
Pike barely had time to regroup before the home side doubled the lead. Good work by Gbadebo Habideen created the opening for Josh McCarthy who ran at the Pike defence to create an opening before he fired low across the keeper to the far corner.
After squandering a three-goal lead to the same opposition earlier in the season, Fairview were determined there would not be a repeat and they kept Pike’s challenge at bay.
The home side tacked on a third near the end when Oleg Vysochan scored.
