LIMERICK District League's quest for Oscar Traynor glory continues on Sunday afternoon when they host the Munster Senior League looking for a place in the final of the Munster section against either the Waterford DL or The Desmond League.

Limerick District topped their section of the group stages. A Tom Kidd goal gave District a winning start versus Clare while goals from Joel Coustrain (2), Leon Daly and Vinny Ryan gave them a 4-1 win over the Kerry DL.

A 1-1 draw versus the Limerick Desmond League saw them top the group.

The management have had to plan without the services of a number of personnel but those who have led the side to this stage have taken up the baton.

The players used to date are; Josh Coady, Conor Carew, Sean Madigan, Adrian Lipper, Eliah Riordan, Conor Coughlan, Josh Toomey, Shane Walsh, Leon Daly, Joel Coustrain, Vinny Ryan, Eoin Duff, Dylan Murphy, Raid Mouras, Sean Ezekannagha, Willie Armshaw, Ciaran Jennings, Shane Pearse, Stephen McNamara, Adam O'Regan, Joey Rushe, Tom Kidd, John Keogh, and Adam Foley.

There is one game in the Premier League with Carew Park, looking for points urgently, hosting Hyde Rgs.

One outstanding game in the Munster Shield sees Aisling D on the road to meet Seaview looking to add to Limerick’s representatives in the latter stages of the tournament.

The Lawson Cup is the main focus for all other clubs.

Top billing is the all-Premier clash of Ballynanty Rovers and Newport on Saturday evening.

Neither side are hitting the heights they hoped for in the league but a good run in the top Cup in the leagues would give a boost.

Mungret Reg on the other hand are exceeding expectations in the Premier League but they face a sticky ask at home to Summerville Rvs. The Premier A side have been blowing hot and cold so have the potential to cause a shock.

Geraldines are struggling to date and they face the unenviable trip to a Herbertstown side high in confidence and with a team to match that swagger.

Other games worth a visit are Moyross v Southend, Croom Utd v Athlunkard Villa, Caherdavin Celtic v Lough Derg and Prospect v Murroe where the respective Premier A sides will be made earn their passage to the next round.

Ballylanders v Pallagreen and Parkville v Star Rvs could also prove cracking cup ties.

In the Open Cup Hyde Rgs take on one the favourites in Kilmallock B. Coonagh Utd host Fairview Rgs C and Holycross B welcome Mungret Reg D elsewhere.

The Ger Ryan Cup also kicks off with the pick of the round being Corbally Utd v Holycross in Athlunkard.
