A GRIEVING Limerick mum has shared heartbreaking photos and videos of her toddler son who was killed in a hit-and-run collision at the weekend.

Peter Mulcaire, aged 2, of Abbey Court, Rathkeale, was struck by a vehicle while he was playing near his home on Saturday afternoon.

The toddler was laid to rest on Wednesday following Mass of the Angels in St Mary’s Church. In a touching moment, Peter's baby sister Delilah was also baptised at the funeral Mass, as the family wanted young Peter to be with them for the occasion.

Mum, Kerrie Mulcaire, has shared a number of moving photos of Delilah sitting on Peter’s ornate coffin. Kerrie clasps Delilah’s little hand while brother Jim, in the arms of bereft dad James, also places his hand on top of his baby’s sister.

“It was never meant to be like this,” wrote Kerrie above the Facebook post which has had almost 1,000 comments from people expressing their condolences to the Mulcaire and Harty families.

Kerrie also posted videos of Peter singing to his baby sister, cuddling her and giving her a kiss.

“I’ll tell her all about you, my baby, I promise. Ye didn’t get long together but she’ll always know how much you loved her,” posted Kerrie.

She also shared a photo of Peter holding hands in a park with the caption, “Best friends forever” and a number of broken-heart emojis.

May Peter rest in peace.
