Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship permutations ahead of Super Saturday

THE crucial final round of fixtures in the Lyons of Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship take place this Saturday. Garryspillane, Croagh-Kilfinny and Effin have all booked their place into the Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-finals.

Granagh-Ballingarry , Blackrock, Bruff and South Liberties all remain in contention to take the final semi-final spot.All four games in round seven of the Limerick Premier IHC take place on Saturday at 2pm.

Glenroe face Garryspillane in Kilfinane, Effin take on Granagh-Balllingarry in Ballyagran, Bruff meet Croagh Kilfinny in Clarina and South Liberties face Blackrock in Mick Neville Park. 

Granagh-Ballingarry know a win for them against Effin on Saturday will see John O'Connor's side advance into the PIHC semi-finals.

If the west Limerick club are defeated by Effin then they will have to hope that results can go in their favour. Blackrock, South Liberties and Bruff can all still qualify for the semi-final but one of those teams can also still be relegated.

Those three teams are all level on four points.Glenroe are on the bottom of table on three points and if they lose to Garryspillane, Glenroe will be relegated to intermediate hurling for the 2026 season.

Blackrock need to defeat South Liberties and hope that Effin can get the better of Granagh-Ballingarry and Bruff defeat Croagh Kilfinny.

The Rockies will then advance into the semi-finals of the PIHC. Bruff need a win over Croagh-Kilfinny, a draw between Blackrock and South Liberities and a defeat for Granagh Ballingarry against Effin.

That would then see the south Limerick side advance into the knockout stages of the PIHC.South Liberties’ scoring difference is what may come against them in the push for qualification into the knockout stages.

If teams finish level on points on the bottom of the table, there will be a relegation play-off to decide who gets relegated into the Intermediate Hurling Championship as no team can be relegated on scoring difference or the head-to-head rule.

After this weekend, first will play fourth and second will play third in the PIHC semi-finals on October 4.The final of the PIHChas been fixed for October 12 in the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 1pm.

Meanwhile, Feohanagh face Hospital Herbertstown on Saturday at 2pm in the Intermediate Hurling Championship quarter-final, The winner will face Bruree in the IHC semi-final. Na Piarsaigh's second team take on Cappamore in Fedamore on Sunday at 1pm in the other IHC quarter-final and the winner will face Murroe Boher in the IHC semi-final. The IHC final takes place on October 18.
