LIMERICK SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP GROUP ONE

Ballybrown v Ahane, Saturday, August 2 in Claughaun at 3pm

THE big challenge for Ballybrown and Ahane is can they break into the top four. Na Piarsaigh, Doon, Kilmallock and Patrickswell have consistently reached the SHC semi-finals.

Former Galway senior hurling selector Kevin Lally takes charge of Ballybrown this year. Lally served as a selector under Henry Shefflin with the Tribesmen and he was previously in charge of Galway club St Thomas'.

Ballybrown's Aidan O'Connor enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Limerick senior hurlers. His clubmate Colin Coughlan captained UL to Fitzgibbon Cup success earlier this year.The Clarina based club finished top of group two in 2024.

Ahane narrowly missed on qualifying for the knockout stages. Ciaran Barry captains the east Limerick outfit, while Limerick stars Dan and Tom Morrissey are vice-captains of the side. Ahane's Evan O'Leary was part of the Limerick senior hurlers pre-season squad in 2025.
