Since the competition was revived in 1996 after a lapse of over 20 years, the Limerick Leader Cup has stood alone as the most prestigious hurling title that any primary school in Limerick can aspire to win.

The 1996 final was won by Kilmallock BNS who were powered to victory by a fifth class pupil, Andrew O’ Shaughnessy, who went on to win an All Star award as well as two All-Ireland Under 21 medals to name just some of the honours he gleaned in a glittering career.
Of the current Limerick panel Seán Finn, Aidan O’Connor, Barry Murphy, Adam English, Shane Dowling and Declan Hannon, to name but a few, hold Leader Cup medals. Lisnagry NS will fly the flag for the East this year following a hard-fought victory v Doon CBS in the East decider.
Lisnagry last won the title in 2019. Gaelscoil an Ráithín are City champions having won the the famed OLO Cup for the first time. They hope to add the hurling title to the football crown they won last November. Scoil Mocheallóg from Kilmallock represent South Limerick.
The Baalbeck boys overcame Scoil Dean Cussen from Bruff by a single point in the South decider. John English’s charges have a proud record in this competition. Christ the Saviour NS from Ballingarry NS will represent West Limerick and they are relishing the prospect of playing for a county title. The school competed in the INTO Mini Sevens hurling finals already this year and are quietly fancied by shrewd observers.
The Limerick Leader Cup for 2025 will be played in Stakers Wallace GAA grounds in Martinstown on Wednesday June 11 th .
Both semi-finals will be played on adjoining pitches at 12 noon.

Semi-final 1: Scoil Mocheallóg, Kilmallock V Gaelscoil an Raithín
Semi- final 2: Christ the Saviour NS, Ballingarry V Lisnagry NS
Final to be played at 1pm.
