FIVE Limerick hurling stars are involved in this weekend's Fitzgibbon Cup final.
Adam English, Colin Coughlan, Patrick O'Donovan, Aidan O'Connor and Conor Hanley Clarke are all part of the University of Limerick side who face DCU in the Fitzgibbon Cup decider tomorrow at 2:45pm in the Connacht GAA centre of excellence.
The Fitzgibbon Cup final will be shown live on TG4.
English, Coughlan, O'Donovan and O'Connor have all featured for John Kiely's side in the opening two rounds of the Allianz Hurling League. Hanley Clarke has been drafted into the Limerick senior hurling panel as a goalkeeper.
2024 young hurler of the year nominee Cathal O'Neill has missed a large proportion of the Fitzgibbon Cup campaign with a hamstring injury.
Evan O'Leary, Sean O'Neill, Sam Williams, John Fitzgerald and Barry Duff are also part of the UL Fitzgibbon Cup squad. Brian Ryan's side come into this clash on the back of a comfortable victory over MTU Cork in the Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final.
Meanwhile DCU edged past UCC in the other semi-final. The Dublin college are coached by Limerick native Eoin Roche. Roche formerly of St Senan's coached Na Fianna to the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship title earlier this year.
The Castletroy college are aiming to go one step further than last year after coming up short in last year's Fitzgibbon Cup final to Mary Immaculate College. UL will aim to win their ninth Fitzgibbon Cup on Saturday afternoon in Mayo.
