LIMERICK senior hurling manager John Kiely said his side's draw with Cork last night is something for his side to build on ahead of their clash with Tipperary next weekend.

The Shannonsiders host Tipperary in round three of the Allianz National Hurling League on February 9 at 3:45pm in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

""All told, happy with the performance. We probably put ourselves in a position to win the game and probably should have. It's good start and it's something for us to build on going forward now. That's our focus for the next seven days, we've Tipperary next Sunday. We've a bit of work to do during the week." said manager John Kiely after Saturday night's Allianz League clash with Cork.

Limerick played out a 1-16 to 1-16 draw with Cork on Saturday night in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. A free from Darragh Fitzgibbon on 79 minutes meant both sides had to settle for a draw.

Kiely was impressed by some of his players performances on Saturday evening.

"It was a great opportunity for lads to get gametime under the belt. They didn't do too badly at all. I think a lot of fellas, we'll see that they have plenty to work off there. Listen to say that's not a bad start, lets go again next week."

Limerick's Gearoid Hegarty was forced off with an injury in the first half. "It's a cut and it's going to take a number of stitches to get it fixed . This time of the year, you are going to pick up things like that, he'll be fine."

Mike Casey, Peter Casey, Barry Nash, Declan Hannon, Tom Morrissey and Darragh O'Donovan were some of the players not involved in the matchday squad last night.

"It's a very full picture going forward for the next couple of weeks. We've Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-final this Wednesday, semi-final the following Wednesday and final the following Saturday. We have to wait and see how things pan out. There's lot of little bits and pieces going on, few lads picked up knocks last night. There'll be potential changes there. We'll assess during the week where we at and we'll put our best foot forward again next weekend."
