Local derby tops group fixture list in Fitzgibbon Cup

MARY Immaculate College (MIC) and University of Limerick face off in round three of the Fitzgibbon Cup this Wednesday at 2pm in the MICL grounds.

Both sides have recorded victories over ATU Galway and SETUWaterford in group one of the Fitzgibbon Cup. This Wedensday's clash will a repeat of last year's Fitzgibbon Cup final.

UL and Mary I are guaranteed a place in the quarter-final stages of the competition.

The winner of this Wednesday's clash will advance directly into the semi-finals, while the loser will play in the quarter-finals.
Colin Coughlan, Adam English, Aidan O'Connor, Patrick O'Donovan and Evan O'Leary have all featured for UL.

Meanwhile, Conor Hanley Clarke, Sean Duff and Sean O'Neill are all part of the Castletroy College's Fitzgibbon Cup squad.
UL's Adam Screeney and Cathal O'Neill are both sidelined through injury.

Limerick senior hurler Shane O'Brien, William Dore, Vince Harrington, Cian Scully and Oisin O'Farrell have started in Jamie Wall's side victories in the Fitzgibbon Cup. Former Limerick hurler Jimmy Quily of Blackrock has lined in the number six role for the south circular road college. 

Jack Daly and Patrick Finn both came on in Mary I's victory over SETU Waterford, while Killian Aherne is part of the Mary I squad.

Meanwhile, TUS Midwest are back in action against Maynooth University on Thursday at 7pm in Kildare. TUS Midwest need a victory or a draw to secure their place into the quarter-finals of the Fitzgibbon Cup knockout stages.
