Limerick club hurling manager confirmed as new Waterford boss

KILMALLOCK senior hurling manager Peter Queally has been announced as the new Waterford senior hurling manager. Queally worked as a selector under Davy Fitzgerald with the Deise for the past two seasons.

The former Waterford hurler will be joined by former Tipperary hurler Eoin Kelly and his former inter-county teammate Dan Shanahan in the backroom team.

Queally has been appointed on a two year term to manage his native county and he lined out for Waterford from 1989 to 2003.

The Kilmallock boss enjoyed a narrow one point victory over Mungret St Paul's at the weekend and he will be looking for his side to build on that victory. After the South Limerick side suffered an opening round defeat to Doon.

It is Queally's first year in charge of Kilmallock, he has taken over the reigns from Waterford man Fintan O'Connor.

There is now three week in the Hurling Championship with the Football Championship taking centre stage.
