THE action in round two of the Bon Secours Limerick Senior Hurling Championship takes place later this week.

Na Piarsaigh, Doon and Ahane all recorded victories in the opening round fixtures. Patrickswell suffered a three point defeat to Na Piarsaigh last weekend and will be anxious to record their first win of the championship against Doon on Friday evening at 7pm in Kilmallock.

Aaron Gillane continued his impressive form scoring 0-9 out of Patrickswell's 1-17 on Friday evening.

Doon will be aiming to make it two wins from two. It has been a statement of intent from Doon to bring in former Waterford boss Derek McGrath as manager.

Last week saw Doon line out with all four of their county players for the first time in a year in the SHC which included Richie English, Adam English, Darragh O'Donovan and Barry Murphy.

Adam English impressed for the East Limerick based side where he landed 0-10. English was accurate from the placed ball scoring 0-9.

This game is sure to attract a big crowd in Kilmallock on Friday evening with eight Limerick senior hurlers lining out for their clubs.

Kilmallock and Mungret St Paul's face off a the same time in Bruff at 7pm. Both sides will know a victory is critical this week.

Peter Queally's side can take huge confidence from the way they battled back against Doon in the second half. Kilmallock trailed 1-10 to 0-6 on 24 minutes and they did have chances to level the game late on.

Phelim O'Reilly kept Kilmallock within touching distance where he was off the mark with 2-2 from play.

Similar to Kilmallock, Mungret St Paul's just came up short against Ahane. Brian Begley will be happy with the way his side performed in the second half, however last year's Group B champions will be looking to get a win with games to come against Na Piarsaigh, Doon and Patrickswell.

Paul O'Brien was in superb form for Mungret St Paul's where he was on target with a tally of 0-10.

The final game of the weekend sees Na Piarsaigh take on Ahane on Saturday evening at 7pm in Caherconlish.

Both sides will look to continue their unbeaten records.

Ahane will be looking to improve on last year's campaign where they won their first game but failed to win a game after that.

Last Saturday saw them get over the line in Claughaun where Tom Morrissey was on fire scoring 1-8 for his club. It also saw former Clare player Gary Brennan make his debut for the club.

Na Piarsaigh showed all their experience in a repeat of last year's county final against Patrickswell where they prevailed by three points.

The Caherdavin men showed once again why they are county champions.

Former Limerick hurler Kevin Downes stood out for the victors getting on the scoreboard with 0-4.

After this weekend's action, there will a break for three weeks with the Limerick Senior Football Championship taking centre stage once again.
