ONLY one Limerick player has been named on the GAA Team of the Week in the wake of the four time All-Ireland champions loss to Cork in the semi-final over the weekend.
Gillane is also nominated for the GAA Hurler of the Week against Cork's Brian Hayes and Clare's David McInerney.
All-Star hurler Aaron Gillane was the only Treaty man named on the team after he scored 10 points during the semi-final, four of them from frees.
The GAA Team of the Week includes eight Cork players, five Clare men and only one Kilkenny player. The eight Cork players include Patrick Collins, Eoin Downey, Niall O'Leary, Rob Downey, Darragh Fitzgibbon, Shane Barrett, Séamus Harnedy and Brian Hayes.
The five Clare men, who beat Kilkenny in the opposite semi-final, list on the team of the week are Adam Hogan, John Conlon, David McInerney, Shane O'Donnell and Aidan McCarthy. The final spot on the team was filled by Kilkenny's Cian Kenny.
The 'Rebels' produced a magnificent display against Limerick last Sunday in front of a sold-out Croke Park to stop the five in-a-row bid for the Shannonsiders, with a two-point victory for Cork. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling final will now take place on Sunday, July 21 between Cork and Clare in Croke Park at 3:30pm.
