EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final this Sunday, June 9 when Limerick will look to make it six Munster senior hurling titles in a row on locking horns with old rivals Clare at FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles, 4pm.

Limerick and Clare will be meeting in the Munster senior hurling final for the third year in a row this year. The Shannonsiders scored a dramatic 1-23 to 1-22 victory over Clare in the 2023 Munster senior hurling final at the TUS Gaelic Grounds, while Limerick secured a 1-29 to 0-29 win in the provincial decider 12 months earlier.

“Our performance levels are higher than what they were last year,” was manager John Kiely's response after his side reached another Munster senior hurling final with victory over Waterford at the TUS Gaelic Grounds last Sunday afternoon, after booking their spot in the final.

Speaking after last Sunday's 0-30 to 2-14 victory over Waterford, Limerick manager John Kiely said: “Our trajectory is upwards compared to other years and we have to keep going after those games.

“The shooting aspect is something that we will most definitely have to work on over the next few weeks. There was a lot said about us having to be knocked out of the Munster Championship and we are still here and now is the time to drive on.”

Limerick registered 20 wides in Sunday's game John Kiely said: “Most days we would expect the lads to throw those shots over the bar and it just didn't happen.

“The most important thing from hitting wides is the reaction you have after it and they didn't allow the wides to dink their confidence to keep shooting.”
