Limerick focus on crucial Munster clash with Déise

ALL EYES will be firmly fixed on the TUS Gaelic Grounds this coming Sunday, May 26 as Limerick take on Waterford in their crunch final group game in Munster senior hurling championship.

After another hectic weekend of action, where Limerick were not playing, results from other games have set up an intense final weekend of games.

Limerick's weekend opponents Waterford suffered an agonising one-point defeat to Clare in Ennis making this Sunday’s game at the TUS Gaelic Grounds a must win for both.

Clare face a trip to Thurles to take on a struggling Tipperary side as Cork finished their Munster Championship group games with two defeats and two wins leaving them on four points and in third place in the table.

The Treaty men fell to their first defeat in the championship away to Cork last time out. Manager Kiely is hopeful of having both Mike Casey and Darragh O’Donovan back in the mix for selection for the Waterford game after recovering from injury.

During the Cork defeat Limerick also lost Sean Finn to injury and the inspirational defender looks set to miss Sunday's game. The All-Ireland champions have let a lot of games run away from them giving them a huge amount to do in the final quarter.

Speaking about the issue of not closing out games, Kiely said: “We can’t keep this pressure on ourselves. The game is 75 minutes long, not 30 and we have to start playing consistently throughout the entire game not just in pockets. No team can keep up playing like this.

“All of us are looking forward to heading back to the Gaelic Grounds again and showing our fans how much we can improve throughout this championship.”
