CAROLINE Currid will not be part of the Limerick senior hurling team setup for the 2024 season it was confirmed at the October county board meeting on Tuesday evening.

John Kiely and the rest of the Limerick management team were ratified for another year (with an option of a second) but they will aim for five All-Ireland's in a row without Currid.

The renowned sports psychologist has been with the team for all five of Limerick's All-Ireland victories. Currid was not part of the backroom team for the 2019 campaign when Limerick lost to Kilkenny. Her exit is a blow to Limerick's hopes of earning the historic fifth Liam MacCarthy on the bounce.

Since Limerick ended their 45 year wait for Liam MacCarthy Cup glory in 2018, the role of performance psychologist Currid has received much praise from players and management alike.

The Sligo native made her name as one of the leading performance coaches across varying spectrums of Irish sport over the last decade.

Her roles include varying All-Ireland GAA winning teams (2008 Tyrone footballers, 2010 Tipperary hurlers, 2011 Dublin footballers as well as Limerick).

Currid has also worked with Paul O'Connell during his playing career and also spent time with Munster Rugby a couple of years ago.
