MORE than €100,000 in funding has been announced for flood mitigation works in County Limerick.
Details of the funding, under the Office of Public Works’ Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme, were confirmed by Limerick TD and Minister of State Patrick O'Donovan.
A total of €117,225 has been allocated for the works which will see the construction of new storm drains to manage surface flooding along the R511 at Coolfune, Fedamore.
It's hoped the installation of drain will protect the road and number of houses from future flooding.
In a post on social media, Mr O'Donovan said: "As you know, flooding is a huge problem all over the country and over the last number of years I've used my position in the Office of Public Works to make sure that as many local authorities as possible get access to funding from OPW including Limerick City and County Council so (this is) good news for the affected properties in Fedamore," he said.
The money approved by the OPW will be used by the local authority to progress the project.
