The M18 was closed while emergency services responded to the incident
GARDAÍ have confirmed they are investigating an incident after an overturned car was abandoned on the M18.
The incident occurred on the Limerick to Clare motorway, near Junction 13 close to Ennis, on December 5, at 8pm, whereby an overturned Vauxhall Astra car collided with a crash barrier in a single-vehicle collision, before overturning.
The car, which was found on its roof and with no occupants at the time of discovery has sparked a garda investigation.
Fire Control Services confirmed that that several units from Clare County Fire and Rescue Services were dispatched from Ennis and Shannon stations in response to the incident.
Gardaí along with National Ambulance Services personnel also arrived on scene. They confirmed that following a two hour traffic management plan, the road was fully reopened to motorists.
A garda spokesperson told the Limerick Leader that they are appealing to any witnesses who may have information to come forward to Ennis Garda Station.
"There have been no injuries reported at this time. Investigations are ongoing," they added.
