"WE ARE eternally grateful for his legacy of excellence".

The reaction of Adare Manor to the news that its former chief executive Colm Hannon has passed away.

There is profound sadness in Limerick's business community at the passing of the resort's chief earlier this week.

A native of Ballyglass in Co Mayo, Colm spent almost 30 years working with the McManus family.

He held the post at the top of Adare Manor from 2015 until his retirement in 2022, overseeing many significant developments and innovation.

Most notable among these were its detailed renovation and restoration and in 2019, its successful bid to host the Ryder Cup in 2027.

"His exceptional leadership and distinguished service were instrumental to the successful redevelopment of Adare Manor, and our position as a world-leading resort. The entire Adare Manor team are incredibly proud of his outstanding contribution to the hotel and our wider community, and we are eternally grateful for his legacy of excellence," a spokesperson for the group said.

"We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Colm’s wife Sue, and their children Conor, Shane and Ciara, his parents John and Mary, siblings John and Caroline, parents-in-law Les and Vera, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Our thoughts are with them and with Colm’s wider group of family and friends," they added.

Colm died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in the exceptional care of Milford Care Centre on Wednesday last.

He will be reposing at home in the Demesne on Saturday from 1pm to 5pm.

His funeral will then arrive at Mary Immaculate Church in Shannon, on Monday, December 5 at 12noon.

This will be followed by a private cremation.

The family have asked people to make donations to Milford Care Centre instead of flowers.
