Limerick couple fined after litter traced to them via school documents sent to daughter

THE parents of a schoolgirl were prosecuted under the Waste Management Act after they were connected to three bags of rubbish which were dumped at Todds Bow in the city centre.

Litter warden Paul McAnespie told Limerick District Court documentation from the girl’s school was discovered in the bags which were found on November 16, last.

The defendants’ details were later obtained from the school after it was contacted by the local authority.

A notice requiring the parents to supply details of their waste collection service was subsequently issued but not complied with. A fine was also not paid.

Judge Marian O’Leary fined each parent €200 and she directed they each pay €293 towards the council’s costs.
