THE public relations officer of a Limerick photography club has appealed for the safe return of his precious camera.

Thomondgate man Pat Murphy was out taking pictures of wildlife in Curraghchase this Tuesday when he lost the Canon 7D device, which he has owned for the last five years.

The kit contained a telephoto lense, a mono-pod and a camoflauge cover.

It was at around 4pm his camera went missing after a two-hour walk around Curraghchase.

Taking up the story, Pat, who is with the St Munchin’s Camera Club, said: “I was walking down to the car park to have a cup of tea. Obviously after walking for two hours, I was a bit dehyderated. I was taking off my jacket, and left my camera at the back of my car. Whether I left it on the ground or against the car, i’m not sure. At that point, an elderly man came over to have a chat. Next thing, I get into the car and drive off.”

It was only five minutes later, he realised he had left the camera behind in the car park. Unfortunately when he returned to the car park, it was too late – the camera had gone.

“I use it every day. I am in the camera club, and I am in the Limerick birdwatch group. The camera always goes out. It’s my hobby, it’s been my hobby for a long time,” Pat added.

He has reported the missing camera to gardai at Henry Street, Bruff and Pallaskenry, and has confirmed that a reward is on offer for its safe return.

If you come across it, please call Pat at 087-9565907, or drop it into any garda station.
