THERE was no melting the support behind this winning Limerick snow creation despite the big thaw in recent days, with readers voting in huge numbers in our online poll to find the best 'snowman'.

Thousands of readers voted for the best sculptures after the snowy burst of creativity in the city and county.

The impressive polar bear built by Damien and Mags Culhane in Glin is our winner, after a flurry of voting since we posted our top ten this Tuesday.

Congrats to the West Limerick pair, who have won a dinner for four in Grill Bar and Restaurant, at the Clayton Hotel.

An honorable mention must go to second place - a mythical sphinx built by Keith Massey and Paul Devine in Newcastle West - and third - the McGuinness family from Pallaskenry, who carved out a perfect replica of Olaf from Frozen - and indeed all of those who submitted their snow pictures to us last Friday and over the weekend.

And more perfect copies of cartoon characters were built when the Griffins from Loughill carved the Griffins from Family Guy.

After a photo of ‘Willie Snow’Dea’ went rather viral on Friday, Limerick was challenged with creating more famous political figures out of snow. And on Twitter, Limerick Spring delivered, reposting an image that had been sent to them: a snowman in the likeness of Michael Noonan TD.

- See the weekend Limerick Leader, out now, for some great coverage of the perfect snow white landscape in Limerick last week.
