AN elderly man in Limerick had his wallet stolen in and his debit card subsequently used for transactions in a “despicable crime”, gardai have said.

Mayorstone Gardai are investigating the incident, which happened at the Jetland shopping centre on the Ennis Road at around 12.20pm on Saturday, November 18.

Gardai said the elderly man was “relieved of his wallet outside the shop in broad daylight and subsequent transactions were made on his debit card.

“This is a despicable crime and gardai would be very interested to apprehend these culprits sooner rather than later,” added a spokesperson.

Mayorstone Gardai are investigating and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 061-456980.
