Man killed in Limerick motorbike crash is named

The crash happened in Pallasgreen on Sunday

THE 13th person to be killed on county Limerick roads this year has been named locally as Scott Fitzgerald.

He lost his life in a motorcycle accident at around 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon on the road between Barna and Old Pallas in east Limerick.

Mr Fitzgerald, aged in his thirties, was fatally injured when the motorbike he was driving crashed into a wall.

An air ambulance landed in Pallasgreen GAA field to transport Mr Fitzgerald to hospital but it is understood he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Originally from Clonmel, it is thought that he had moved to the Pallasgreen area in recent times.

Mayor of Clonmel Borough District, Cllr Andy Moloney, said it was a "terrible tragedy" and expressed his sympathies to Mr Fitzgerald's family and friends.

Gardai in Bruff are investigating and appeal for any witnesses to contact them on 061 382940.
