Markets expert to discuss Brexit concerns at Shannon Chamber seminar

Trevor Charsley will speak at Thursday's seminar

Indigenous industries in the Shannon Region worried about their export prospects following Brexit will have an opportunity to get expert advice on how to react at a seminar organised by Shannon Chamber.

The fall-out from the Brexit vote will be addressed by senior market adviser Trevor Charsley of AFEX Risk Management Solutions when he addresses the seminar this Thursday, September 22.

“A recent Irish Exporters Association survey of members found that ninety per cent of companies export to, or do business with, the UK. For many Irish-owned firms in the region already exporting to the UK or planning to do so, the Brexit issue is of major concern,” explained Helen Downes, CEO of Shannon Chamber.

“Thursday’s seminar, which is free of charge, provides an ideal opportunity for local firms to get a very valuable insight into this complex issue and explore what they can do to help their businesses prosper,” she added.

Mr Charsley is a widely acknowledged expert commentator on Brexit and business matters who is often quoted in the leading British and North American media.

Mazars Ireland, the leading professional services firm is the main sponsor of the seminar, which is being organised in association with the German-Irish Chamber of Commerce.

Ronan Harbison, commercial director with the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce will speak about opportunities in the German market for firms in the Shannon region.

A number of other topics critical to indigenous firms developing export markets will be covered during the event which will feature a number of speakers from Mazars.

Thursday’s seminar begins at 8.30am at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
