News homes in Limerick for under €140,000

The homes are available under a scheme to get people out of the rental market and into home ownership

Radharc Cillín, Kilfinane

Homes for under €140,000 will be available under a council scheme

NEW homes to support working families and individuals in rural areas to leave rental accommodation are now available in Kilfinane.

Under the New Build Incremental Purchase Scheme, two three-bedroom homes are now available to buy for between €91,728.33 and €137,592.50, depending on income.

The modern, energy-efficient homes, are ready to be moved into and will allow people who are currently renting and availing of HAP, RAS or social leasing, and particularly those who have been given a Notice to Quit, to own their own homes.

The two houses in Radharc Cillín in Kilfinane, in the village, offer applicants a newly built house at a 40-60% discounted price.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, emphasised the importance of such schemes in addressing housing pressure: “While this New Build Incremental Purchase Scheme is a modest offering given its two homes, it’s another step for us in our wider strategy of supporting working families and individuals in rural County Limerick to access housing.

“These new homes, located in a modern estate and finished to a high standard, will provide safe, comfortable living for their new occupants.”

Príomh Chomlairleoir, Cllr Catherine Slattery, added: “We believe that everyone deserves the dignity of home ownership, and through this scheme, we are helping to make that dream a reality for more people across Limerick.”

Director general at Limerick City and County Council, Dr Pat Daly, said this is the seventh scheme in Limerick across the city and county.

The Director General said it “is a great opportunity to help people put down roots in their own homes.”

Applications are now open and will remain open until 5pm on October 24, 2025 and applicants must submit mortgage approval in principle with their completed application.

Eligibility criteria and details on how to apply, are available on Limerick.ie.
