Sea off Clare beaches cleared for swimming once again as restrictions lifted

THE SEA off two beaches in Clare popular with Limerick people is once again safe to bathe in.

It follows the news that Clare County Council has lifted advisory notices it had in place for Spanish Point and Kilkee beaches.

The local authority had on Thursday asked people not to swim at the beach in Kilkee until further notice.

It was introduced after the results of routine bathing water samples showed elevated levels of bacteria.

A similar issue also sparked a warning at Spanish Point.Clare County Council has confirmed that Advisory Notices issued for Spanish Point and Kilkee Beaches have now been lifted.

This Friday afternoon, Clare County Council confirmed following additional sampling and on the advice of the HSE, these do not swim notices have been lifted.
