A TOTAL of €8,000 has been raised by The Limerick Central Rotary Club (LCRC) Remembrance Tree, in aid of four local charity partners – Down Syndrome Limerick, Limerick Mental Health Association, Doras, and St. Munchin’s Community Centre.

The Remembrance Tree was located in the Crescent Shopping Centre throughout December, and a cheque presentation took place in the Strand Hotel on January 31.

Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders to tackle pressing humanitarian challenges at both local and international levels.

Ger Lynch, President of LCRC, commented, “We were overwhelmed by the support for our inaugural Remembrance Tree, which provided an opportunity for people to remember a loved one who has passed on or was unable to be home for Christmas. We are very grateful to the Crescent Shopping Centre and our charity partners, to everyone who volunteered on the Tree, and to those who generously donated”.

Eimear Dwan, Marketing Manager with the Crescent Shopping Centre, said: “We were delighted to work with Limerick Central Rotary Club on this project and to have a Remembrance Tree here at the Crescent over the Christmas period. We would like to thank all our shoppers who visited the Remembrance Tree in support of these important local causes”.
