Heartbreak as Limerick nurse and mum-of-two dies after caesarian section

The late Stephy Ousef

Tributes have poured in for a nurse who tragically died after a caesarian section.

Stephy Ouseph of Cedarville, Abbeyfeale passed away on June 21, after a caesarean section in Cork University Hospital.

She worked as a nurse at University Hospital Kerry.

Stephy’s heartbroken husband, Baiju Scaria, has appealed for the public’s help to repatriate her wife’s remains back home to Kerala, India, on a GoFundMe campaign, here.

“We are absolutely devastated by Stephy’s passing and are struggling to find the funds to cover the cost of her funeral and the repatriation of her remains to India. We will need to pay all funeral costs, and we have started a fundraiser to collect donations for Stephy’s funeral service.

“Please consider donating if you are able to do so. We are very grateful for every donation during this difficult time,” said Stephy’s husband on the fundraiser page.

“Adored wife of Baiju and cherished mother of Johann and Juwann. Stephy will be sadly missed by her loving family – her husband, sons, her parents, sister, brothers-in-law, her beloved family based in India, her wonderful colleagues in University Hospital Kerry, extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends in Ireland and India. May She Rest in Peace,” read a death notice for Stephy on Rip.ie.

Since the tragic news broke out, tributes have been pouring in for Stephy, who has been described as a "extremely kind" and "caring".

"Such sad news for such a gentle, kind and devoted lady in the prime of her life. I am so sorry for your loss. Such an unfair world at times," wrote a friend in tribute.
"My deepest condolences to Stephy’s family. I had the pleasure of working alongside her last year as a nursing student. She was extremely kind and caring towards her patients and their family members. I fondly remember her talking about how excited she was to have her baby. I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May she Rest In Peace," paid a nursing student in tribute.
Stephy will be reposing at McElligott's Funeral Home, in Tralee, on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm.

The family has asked for donations to me made to charities in Stephy's name, in lieu of flowers.

May she rest in peace.
