THE NORTH Munster Cattle Breeders have handed over a cheque for €1,500 to Miford Care Centre in memory of the late Ted Boyce.
The popular dairy farmer and pedigree breeder from Ballytigue, Bruree passed away last December. He went to his God while surrounded by his loving family in Milford Care Centre.
Pat Walsh, treasurer of the North Munster Cattle Breeders, said they decided to make the donation in honour of Ted’s contribution to the society.
“Ted was chairman for many years and was involved with the society over a long period of time. Ted was the driving force within the organisation. He was a superb breeder of cattle himself and was a great character. He is greatly missed.
“We decided to honour his memory by presenting a cheque to Milford Care Centre which gave such wonderful care to Ted and his family,” said Mr Walsh.
Ted’s wife of 51 years, Marie, and daughter Angela are in the photograph along with Con Enright, North Munster Cattle Breeders Association, Anne Marie Hayes, fundraising manager, Milford Care Centre, and Eileen Hannan, secretary, North Munster Cattle Breeders Association.
In a beautiful eulogy at his funeral, Angela spoke of the Boyce family’s gratitude to the staff and palliative care team in Milford Care Centre who took such good care of Ted in his final days and provided great support to the family.
Ted is sadly missed by his family and his wide circle of friends in Limerick and up and down the country. His absence in the cattle sections of agricultural shows this summer will be keenly felt.
