Special merit award from Eimear Hipolito, Milford NS, Castletroy

THREE local students have won prizes for their posters which highlight the importance of the Fair Trade movement.

It comes as the annual Fair Trade Fortnight takes place across Ireland.

The aim of the event is to show the importance of buying Fair Trade items where possible.

This year, Fairtrade Ireland is focusing on the impact of climate change on farmer producers and workers in developing nations.

Some are suffering from drought, others from flooding and do not have the resources to combat these challenges.

Buying items marked with the Fair Trade logo helps these people fight their way out of poverty.
