The interior of the former Treaty Cafe in Nicholas Street
A PROPERTY which once housed one of Limerick’s most famous cafes has gone on the market.
Offers in excess of €350,000 are being sought for the Treaty Cafe at 13 Nicholas Street in the city centre, along with its upper floors.
A four-bedroom property, it features one bath, and has a floor space of 266 square metres in total.
The ground floor contains an open plan shop area, and a kitchen.
The back hallway has a store area.
The first floor has a bedroom, a box room and store, alongside a shower and toilet.
The second floor is home to the other three bedrooms, alongside a store.
The roof of the terraced home was significantly improved approximately five years ago, according to an advert on the property sales website www.daft.ie.
A small yard area and a toilet are located at its rear.
The Treaty Cafe operated until around 12 years ago, having re-opened after a long closure before that.
Prior to this, the business was owned by Richard Coughlan, who sadly died in 2021.
Dick, as he was known to friends, was well-known across the showband world for running the cafe.
In its heyday, it opened all night in order to ensure musicians were not left unfed after playing concerts in Limerick.
As a token of their stay, many showbands would have donated signed photographs to the cafe which Richard proudly displayed in his premises.
