New partner appointed at Limerick-based financial firm

New EY Limerick partner Mark Hegarty

MANAGEMENT at a blue-chip financial firm have announced the appointment of a new lead partner for its Limerick office.

Mark Hegarty is to lead EY’s office at Harvey’s Quay in the city centre, having moved from the same company’s set-up in Cork.

A qualified chartered accountant with more than 20 years’ experience in both industry and practice, he is highly experienced in finance function operation and large-scale organisational change.

Prior to joining EY in 2019, he held a number of other leadership positions.

Mr Hegarty will be responsible for a staff of 150 in Limerick, including 10 partners based across the Mid-West.

Areas of focus include assurance, tax, consulting and strategy and transactions.

Mr Hegarty said: “I am delighted to take up the role of leading EY Limerick through our next growth phase in a thriving city and region. With continuing investment, a dynamic indigenous entrepreneurial sector and a highly-skilled local workforce in the Mid-West, Limerick’s growing reputation of being a first-class location to live, work and do business continues to be front and centre in its success story.”

He said he feels “really proud” to lead the team here.

“As the challenges facing businesses become ever more complex, external expertise has become a growing requirement for organisations’ long-term, sustainable growth,” added Mr Hegarty.
