Krispy Kreme confirms plan to open first Limerick store

THERE ARE plans for a major international donut brand to open a store in Limerick later this year.

Krispy Kreme is set to open a new outlet in Dooradoyle this autumn.

The exact location of the new store has not been confirmed but the suburb is home to Crescent Shopping Centre where Limerick gardai run an annual 'Cops and Donuts' fundraiser in aid of Special Olympics Ireland.

Krispy Kreme has confirmed it's is seeking a full-time permanent store manager for its first outlet in Limerick.

A donut shop and coffee house, the firm was founded 86 years ago, with its first store in Nashville in the state of Tennessee in the United States of America.

It now has 1,400 outlets across the world, including here in Ireland where it’s ramping up its presence.

At present, it has stand-alone stores in Galway, Cork as well as several in Dublin, and employs around 154 staff in this country.

The closest Krispy Kreme store to Limerick is at a Circle K service station in Cashel, County Tipperary where it operates as a kiosk.

In the company’s job advert, which has been posted to the recruitment website Indeed.ie, the company is seeking someone who has experience in a “food-on-the-go environment or within retail”.

It's seeking those who already have a track record as a supervisor or a manager in this type of setting.

One of the perks, it says, is free tea and coffee for staff - and of course, free donuts!
