Mayor of Limerick City and County Council, Gerald Mitchell with members of Rathbane Golf Club
A GOLF course nestled on the outskirts of Limerick city is raising its clubs to celebrate 25 years of bringing the community together.
Since its establishment in 1998, Rathbane Golf Course has opened its fairways to golfers of all skill levels, offering a space for both novices and seasoned experts. Rathbane Golf Club, which was formed in the same year, is also celebrating its silver anniversary.
Over the past 25 years, Rathbane Golf Course has facilitated over a million rounds of golf while maintaining its reputation as the go-to destination for Best Value Golf. With an average of forty thousand rounds of golf played each year, the course has borne witness to countless birdies, eagles, and yes, even a few bogeys!
In 2008, the course underwent redevelopment with investments from Limerick City and County Council, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism. This brought forth new tee boxes, a serene lake, and an enhanced green.
Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Gerald Mitchell, expressed his sentiments on this remarkable occasion, stating: "As Rathbane Golf Course marks its 25 anniversary, it's a time to reflect on the memories created on the course, the satisfying putts sunk, and the enduring friendships forged over countless rounds of golf.
"With the steady support of Limerick City and County Council, the course is primed to embark on another twenty-five years of delivering exceptional golfing experiences, fostering camaraderie, and achieving swinging success."
Situated on the lush grounds of the Rathbane Estate, this public golf course is owned by the Limerick City and County Council and operated by Mack Trading Ltd.
