“The snow started around 2pm and has been sticking in the past hour and a half or so. We’re five minutes from the Limerick border, near Mountcollins and Strand. It's the same in Tournafulla and surrounding areas,” said the Rockchapel resident.

Met Eireann’s weather warning commenced at 5pm this Sunday with temperatures falling to between -2 and -5 degrees generally.

Motorists are warned of sharp or severe frost and icy stretches, as well as black ice amid possible “treacherous travel conditions”.

The Status Yellow warning lasts until 11am on Monday.
