WEDDING bells rang out for a former Munster and Ireland rugby star who married the love of his life in a picturesque outdoor ceremony.

Chris Farrell who currently plays for French side Oyonnax married Estelle Johnston in an outdoor humanist ceremony on the grounds of the five-star Lough Eske Castle Hotel in County Donegal yesterday, Friday.

Conor Murray and newlywed wife Joanna joined the celebrations to toast the happy couple after only arriving back in Ireland following their Portuguese wedding a number of days ago.

Other well-known faces who enjoyed the wedding celebrations included Munster Rugby's Tadhg Beirne and his wife Harriet, Rory Scannell and his fiancé Aisling Colwell, Munster Rugby captain Peter O’Mahony and his wife Jessica and Munster Rugby physio David Breen who popped the question to his soon-to-be wife Emma Farquharson earlier this week.

Munster Rugby's Joey Carbery who also got married in the last number of weeks also attended the wedding.

Estelle steered away from the traditional white dress as her gown featured stunning off-the-shoulder puffed sleeves, with colourful hand-painted floral designs delicately featured throughout the dress and long, flowing veil. The dress was designed by House of Savin.

Her bridesmaids, also in a move away from tradition, wore white jumpsuits.

The humanist wedding ceremony was celebrated by celebrant Sarah Fyffe, with musical accompaniment featuring Laura McFadden and flowers were arranged by Vintage Violet Florist.

Chris Farrell left Munster Rugby in March of this year, making the move to Oyonnax shortly after, securing a two-year contract with the French club. He went on to help the club secure promotion to the French Top 14. He previously played with Munster Rugby from 2017 to 2023.

The happy couple are expected to continue the celebrations into day two, this Saturday evening, with a trip to a local Donegal pub.
