GARDAI in Limerick are warning the public that the fine weather recently has provided criminals with more chances to break into cars.
On Saturday, May 27 a man in his 40s parked his car in the Castletroy area.
The following day he discovered that his Laptop and €2000 euro in cash had been taken from his car overnight.
Sergeant Ber Leetch, Crime Prevention Officer Henry Street Garda Station said: "As there wasn’t any damage to the car, it is clear that the car was left unlocked.
"Some motorists may leave their car windows open in an effort to keep the car cool and of course, this attracts a thief. Always close your windows and lock your car.
"I don’t believe that people deliberately leave their cars unlocked but no car is definitely locked until you check the door handle to test it."
Meanwhile in Rhenogue, a man in his 60s parked his car but failed to lock it. A thief entered the car overnight and took the cash from his wallet.
