Nora O’Hora (Annette O’Connor) tries to protect her daughter Cora O’Hora (Marie Kennedy) from the tribulations of modern romance in St Patrick’s Players production of The Real McCoy
ST PATRICK’S Players – a drama group with over a hundred-year history of bringing the very best of drama to communities – return with a comedy entitled The Real McCoy.
Cloverfield, in the parish of Kilteely-Dromkeen, is steeped in drama and the group have been itching to tread the boards again after a Covid-induced three year hiatus. Performances will take place at 8pm in The Teach, Cloverfield this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 10, 11 and 12.
St Patrick’s Players make their dramatic come-back with The Real McCoy, by Tommy Marren. It is a comedy to be enjoyed by adults and children alike. The group performed this drama in the recent past and played to full houses each night.
The Real McCoy is set over two days in the spring of 1964 in the humble home of Madge Molloy. Madge is in her mid-60s and has lived over 40 years wondering why her husband Tom, whom she was married to for just four months, disappeared without trace or reason.
She has some very interesting and inquisitive neighbours including Cora and Nora who visit her regularly and her daughter Maura shows great interest in the local postman Martin.
A new curate comes to the parish and all hell breaks loose. He informs Madge that her husband Tom wants to return and explain why he left. Madge is definitely having none of it… and thus the plot unfolds to the amazement and enjoyment of the audience.
Due to Covid, the group will not be touring this year as is the tradition. Numbers are also being limited so it is advisable to book early for tickets on 0879397746 or 0879421802. Support would be very welcome as The Teach has had no income for the past three years.
