BON Secours Health System has welcomed its first patients, as its new €213 million state-of-the-art private hospital in Ballysimon, Limerick has officially opened its doors. This landmark development, the first new acute hospital built in Ireland in nearly two decades, is set to transform healthcare in the region.
The new hospital represents one of the largest healthcare investments ever made in the region. When fully operational, it will significantly boost healthcare capacity while also providing a major economic and employment lift for the region and local communities.
The phased opening begins with the relocation of the first set of services, including the hospital’s new cardiac catheterisation laboratory, which is the first such private cath lab in Limerick and the wider Mid-West. In the coming weeks, the hospital will expand further, relocating additional services including surgery and related specialties.
In the months ahead, the hospital will also broaden access to a wide range of specialties including cardiology, respiratory medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology and advanced diagnostic imaging.
