On the podium this week: With the inclement weather, the course was closed on Wednesday. So with the rain abated, the golf course opened on Sunday 16th November, a 13 hole Stableford, with 27 points, Josie Finnan brings the turkey to Galbally, with Joanne Horgan in second place as she'd already won the turkey previously, and Josephine O'Donnell again playing a blinder this week, hot on Joanne's heels for the cranberry sauce after her win last week.
All Ireland Junior Cup Champions: In an historic triumph for Tipperary Golf Club, the women’s Junior Cup team were crowned the 2025 All-Ireland Junior Cup Champions after a stunning run that began in June and culminated in a thrilling national final win over Portstewart.
The journey began on June 22, when the Tipperary ladies teed off their campaign in the Munster East Junior Cup, facing off against Tramore away in the first round. Displaying resilience and composure, they secured a solid 4-1 win to set the tone for the weeks ahead.
Their momentum continued into the second round with a dominant performance over the Gold Coast at home securing a 4-1 win on the 26 July. With confidence building, they entered the Munster East Semi-Final on August 16, where they faced a strong Monkstown side on their home course. In what many dubbed one of the most tactically disciplined matches of the competition, Tipperary Golf Club emerged victorious over the home team with a 4-1 win which would take them through to the final the following day again in Monkstown.
The Munster East Final against Macroom was a battle of nerves and shot-making prowess. Rising to the occasion, the Tipperary Golf Club team produced another commanding display to become Munster East Champions, earning their place among the country’s elite in the All-Ireland series with a 3.5-1.5 win bringing home a Women's Junior Cup Munster East pennant to the club that night where the club celebrated the milestone.
The All-Ireland Quarter-Final took the team north to Tandragee on September 5, where they met Co. Armagh. Unfazed by the pressure or travel, the Tipperary ladies held firm to progress to the Semi-Final with a 3-2 win. The following morning facing difficult playing conditions for the day, the Tipperary Golf Club ladies met a determined Dundalk side.
With national glory within touching distance, the Tipperary Golf Club team displayed grit and consistency to book their place in the final with another 3-2 win.
The All-Ireland Final against Portstewart proved to be the perfect stage for Tipperary Golf Club’s crowning moment. In front of an enthusiastic crowd and under immense pressure, the team delivered a clinical and courageous performance, securing their place in history as 2025 Women’s All-Ireland Junior Cup Champions.
