Limerick learn Munster Senior Football Championship quarter-final opponents

LIMERICK will play Cork in the Munster Senior Football Championship quarter-final on the weekend of April 10.

The winners will face Tipperary or Waterford who meet in the other quarter-final. All-Ireland champions Kerry and Clare meet in the other Munster SFC semi-final. Both Munster SFC semi-finals will take place on the weekend of April 25. The Munster SFC final is scheduled for the weekend of May 10.

Jimmy Lee's side face Cork in a repeat of last year's Munster SFC quarter-final which they were defeated by the 'Rebels' 0-24 to 0-13.

Former Limerick footballer Ian Ryan will be part of the Limerick senior footballers backroom team for the 2026 season. Ryan will take up role the role as forwards coach as part of Jimmy Lee's management team. 

Goalkeeper Josh Ryan looks set for a spell on the sidelines after he suffered an ACL injury in the Limerick SFC relegation semi-final in action for his club Oola in action against Ballylanders. Darragh O'Hagan will also be out of action for a period after undergoing shoulder surgery last week.

Meanwhile, Limerick senior footballer Andrew Meade and Newcastle West's Aaron Neville were part of the University of Limerick football league winning side. UL defeated University of Galway in Division one football league final in Maguires Field on Wednesday evening. 

Lee's side will begin competitive action in the McGrath Cup at home on Friday January 2 against Tipperary at 7pm and they will then travel to Cork on Sunday January 11 at 2pm. 

The Shannonsiders will take on Wicklow, Clare, Laois, Sligo, Down, Westmeath and Fermanagh in Division 3 of the Allianz League in 2026.
