FOUR teams remain in the hunt to lift the Fr Casey Cup.
Fr Casey's, Mungret St Paul's, Adare and Newcastle West have all advanced into the semi-finals of the SFC. Adare, Newcastle West and Fr Casey's all reached the semi-finals last year and they have booked their place in the last four once again.
Mungret St Paul's were promoted from intermediate football last year and the city-based club remain unbeaten in this year's championship.
The Limerick SFC quarter-finals took place last weekend. Fr Casey's cruised past Na Piarsaigh on Saturday evening in Rathkeale GAA club.
Caseys’ won out 3-12 to 1-6. David Ward, Adrian Enright and Eliah Riordan all raised green flags for the victors. Ward and Enright scored 2-4 out of Fr Casey's 3-12 on Saturday evening. Their victory never looked in doubt at any stage, last year's county semi-finalists cruised to a comprehensive victory.
It was disappointing afternoon for Na Piarsaigh. The City side struggled to compete with their opponents, but Michael Lynch can certainly take positives from reaching back-to-back quarter-finals.
Fr Casey's will now meet Mungret St Paul's in the SFC semi-finals on October 20 in Newcastle West at 3:30pm.
In the other quarter-final, Adare had too much for Galtee Gaels on Sunday afternoon in Kilmallock.Conditions were difficult for both sides.
It was low scoring affair in the first half, Adare led 0-2 to 0-1 at half-time.Harry Gleeson's side made full advantage of the breeze in the second half scoring 0-8.
Galtee Gaels struggled to get their hands on the ball and overall the Gaels will be disappointed that they only managed to score 0-1 throughout the 60 minutes.
Adare will now take on Newcastle West in a repeat of last year's county final in the other semi-final. That game takes place in The Bog Garden on October 19 at 4pm.
Ballylanders won the relegation final for the third year in a row. The South Limerick club defeated Ballystseen 2-10 to 0-13 in the relegation final.
Danny Frewan was instrumental in Ballylanders victory on Sunday evening in Ballygaran. Ballysteen's Danny Neville kicked 0-3 from play.
Ballylanders have retained their SFC status, while Ballysteen have been relegated to Intermediate foootball for the 2025 season.
Meanwhile, Claughaun and Galbally have advanced into the semi-finals of the Intermediate football championship.
Rathkeale face Claughaun in the semi-final of the IFC in Askeaton at 1pm on Saturday October 19.
