ONLY four teams remain unbeaten in the Irish Wire Products Ltd County Senior Football Championship after two rounds of fixtures.
Senior newcomers Mungret St Paul's and St Kieran's have won their two opening round games in group one, while 2023 champions Newcastle West and Galtee Gaels are first and second in the Group 2 of the championship.
The senior football competition now takes a break for six weeks with the next fixtures set for the weekend of August, 15. In group one, Mungret St Paul's shocked 2023 finalists Adare in the opening round with a 1-9 to 1-5 victory in Askeaton. This victory followed their opening round win over Na Piarsaigh. St Kieran's pulled off a victory over Monaleen, 3-14 to 2-9 to make it two wins from two.
In group two, Newcastle West remain favourites to retain the senior championship title after another win against Kildimo Pallaskenry. Galtee Gaels also kept their winning streak alive with a 3-10 to 1-6 win over Ballysteen.
On the other end of the tables in group one Na Piarsaigh and Monaleen are in relegation trouble with two losses and in group two Ballysteen and Oola are in a similar position.
There is three more rounds of the championship to go with teams on the bottom of each table anxious to record wins in the next round in August. Teams at the top will be edging to get more points on the board and secure spots in quarter-finals and semi-finals.
