JUNIOR HURLING: Well done to our Junior Hurlers who beat Bruff on Sunday on a score line of 2-11 to 0-15.
The boys started slowly and Bruff took an early lead with some well taken points. Bally settled into the game gradually and Dan Owens and Conor McCarthy got the scoreboard ticking to give Bally a 1 point lead at half time.
The second half saw a much improved effort from Ballybricken. A turnover by Niall Martin saw the ball end up in the hands of Dan Owens who headed straight for goal and rattled the net. Bruff had responded well and it was a hard fought second half. With the game in the balance Conor McCarthy had an effort on goal saved but Dan Owens was ready to follow up and convert for his and Bally’s second goal of the evening. The last 10 minutes saw Bruff throw everything at Bally. Pa Byrnes was black carded for a last ditch tackle and Bruff awarded a penalty. John Pratt, who was excellent with his puck outs all evening, saved the penalty for the second week in a row. He was required again minutes later for an excellent save to one again deny Bruff and finish the day with another clean sheet. Sean Teefy and Eoin Clifford were excellent in the full back line as Bruff probed for a winner which didn’t come and gave Bally their first win of 2026.
CRECORA-MANISTER
All County League: Our Junior hurlers took to the field on Saturday for their second round game following a valiant but ultimately disappointing result in the first round against Monaleen.
Once again, we had to dig deep into our reserves due to a number of injuries and family commitments but playing games as scheduled is our policy for 2026 and once again we fulfilled the fixture.
Crecora Manister 0-17 ABK 2-09
Once again with very little hurling done it was work rate and intensity that was the mantra for this game and again, we were not disappointed in the efforts of everyone. After an intensive first 5 mins ABK took the lead with a well worked goal but for the next 10-15 minutes we rattled off a number of points in a row and closed out the first half a couple of points to the good. Best wishes to Sam Riordan who had to leave the field after 15 mins due to fractured ribs.
The second half began with the same intensity and once again injury hit us with our captain Tom Shanahan going off after 5 mins to a hamstring injury. We closed out the remaining second half with 14 men on the pitch due to limited numbers but while ABK did close the gap in the last 15mins we held on to record our first win of the year. With a lot of players playing out of position and our younger players stepping up we are delighted with our progress to date.
Next up we have 2 Football games and then we look forward to visiting Croom on Friday 17th with a 7pm throw in. Thanks to referee John Paul Kiely for facilitating the game. Without our referees who are doing numerous games each weekend these games would not be possible and we commend them for their efforts.
Panel on the day: Stephen Keating, Dom O’Connor, Colm Parnell, Sam Riordan, Tom Shanahan, Tommy Gore, James Conheady, Padraig Byrnes, Ciaran Cusack, Jack Dalton, Mark O’Keeffe, Donnacha Connolly, Chris Shanahan, Joey Burke, Sean Keyes.
Management: Ger Riordan, Niall Conheady, Declan Maher, Pat Byrnes. Coach: Paul O’Brien. Physio: Caoimhe Howard.
Wedding Bells: We wish our club man Brendan Power and his wife Julia every health and happiness in their new married life together after tying the knot in Crecora Church last Friday. May you both enjoy a lifetime of love, laughter, and happiness together.
Munster Corn Sean Stac Final: Congratulations to our Tory Hill U15 hurlers who represented Coláiste Chiaráin earlier this week defeating Desmond College Newcastlewest in Mick Neville Park on a scoreline of 5–7 to 0–4
Croom were in control from the start, showing great teamwork, sharp finishing, and a strong defence throughout. Early goals set the tone, and they never looked back. Desmond College battled hard but couldn’t break through a very solid Croom backline. A brilliant achievement for all involved.
Mackey Cup: Congratulations to Mark Travers, who proudly represented both our club and Crecora NS on Thursday. Mark lined out at midfield and captained the East Limerick team in the Mackey Cup Semi-Final. A fantastic achievement.
Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes: Unfortunately, our nominated dog Ballymac Riddick did not qualify for the next day. Thank you to Limerick Greyhound Stadium for hosting.
Team Limerick Clean Up: Team Limerick Cleanup takes place once again this coming Good Friday, April 3. We will meet at the GAA Pitch between 10am and 11am to hand out pickers, gloves, Hi-Viz and bags. It would be great to get adult players, Underage teams along with their coaches, community members all out to help clean up our community. Please spread the word and hopefully we will see a big crowd on good Friday morning. Thanks.

U13 HURLING: Mungret St. Pauls 1-7 ABK 3-5
Mungret St. Pauls’ U13 Division 4 hurlers put in a brave and spirited performance in Askeaton on Wednesday evening, March 25, just coming up short against a strong ABK side in a game that went right down to the wire.
Played at a great pace throughout, this was an excellent contest with both sides showing great skill and determination. Mungret St. Pauls battled hard from the throw-in, working tirelessly across the pitch and taking some fine scores to keep themselves right in contention.
Despite creating several goal chances over the course of the game, Mungret St. Pauls were unlucky not to raise a few more green flags, which could have made all the difference in such a tight encounter. ABK proved clinical in front of goal, and their ability to convert key chances ultimately edged them ahead.
A notable aspect of the game was the physical challenge faced by the Mungret St. Pauls side, with most of the ABK players a year older. However, this did not deter the Mungret St. Pauls players, who showed great heart, resilience, and skill throughout, matching their opponents in every department.
In the closing stages, Mungret St. Pauls pushed hard in search of a winning score, but despite their best efforts, ABK held on for a narrow victory.
While the result didn’t go their way, this was a hugely positive performance from Mungret St. Pauls. The experience gained against older opposition will stand to this talented group, who can take great confidence from their display and look forward to the next outing.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Mungret St. Pauls 1-16 Knockainey 3-8
Mungret St. Pauls secured a hard-earned victory over Knockainey in an entertaining Intermediate Hurling League clash in Mungret on Saturday evening Saturday 28 March 2026, showing great resilience to overturn a narrow half-time deficit.
It was Knockainey who made the brighter start, capitalising on early chances and finding the net on three occasions over the course of the first half. Despite this, Mungret St. Pauls remained composed and kept the scoreboard ticking with some well-taken points from play and placed balls. A crucial goal for the home side ensured they stayed in contention, but at the interval it was Knockainey who held a slender lead: Half Timescore; Mungret St. Pauls 1-9 Knockainey 3-4
The second half saw a determined response from Mungret St. Pauls. Tightening up defensively and showing greater urgency around the middle third, they began to gain the upper hand. The work rate across the pitch was evident, with turnovers and strong tackling limiting Knockainey’s scoring opportunities.
Mungret St. Pauls edged ahead through a series of well-worked points, demonstrating patience and accuracy in attack. The defence held firm under pressure, denying Knockainey any further goals in the second period, which proved decisive in the outcome.
As the game entered its closing stages, Mungret St. Pauls showed composure and game management to see out the contest, finishing the stronger of the two sides.
This was a spirited and encouraging performance from Mungret St. Pauls, highlighting their determination and ability to respond under pressure. A strong second-half display ultimately made the difference as they claimed a deserved league victory on home soil.
SENIOR HURLING: Mungret St. Pauls 3-21 Dromin Athlacca 3-21
Mungret St. Pauls produced a spirited and determined performance on the road on Saturday evening, March 28 in Dromin Athlacca, earning a hard-fought draw against Dromin Athlacca in an entertaining Division 2 League clash.
Played in good conditions, the game burst into life from the throw-in, with Dromin Athlacca registering the opening score inside the first minute. Mungret St. Pauls responded well, settling into the contest with a series of well-taken points, both from play and placed balls, to edge ahead early on.
However, the home side struck a significant blow with a goal midway through the first half, shifting momentum in their favour. Dromin Athlacca followed this with a strong scoring spell, notching a succession of points to open up a gap. Mungret St. Pauls showed great resilience during this period, staying in touch thanks to a crucial goal on 16 minutes and some accurate free-taking. The soft pitch and slightly long grass causing a bit of trouble for the Mungret St. Pauls players.
The remainder of the half was played at a high tempo, with both sides exchanging scores. A late surge from Mungret St. Pauls, including a number of well-worked points, reduced the deficit to four by the interval, with the scoreboard reading 1-12 to 2-13 in favour of Dromin Athlacca.
Mungret St. Pauls came out with renewed energy in the second half, quickly adding points from play to close the gap. Their work rate and intensity around the middle third began to pay dividends as they chipped away at the lead. Despite this, Dromin Athlacca remained dangerous and struck for another goal midway through the half to push themselves back into a commanding position.
To their credit, Mungret St. Pauls refused to let the game slip. A crucial goal on 25 minutes reignited their challenge, and this was followed by a steady stream of points as they continued to apply pressure. The game entered a dramatic final phase, with both sides trading scores in a tense finish.
Mungret St. Pauls persistence was rewarded late on when they struck for a vital third goal in the closing minutes, bringing the sides level at the final whistle.
NA PIARSAIGH
Division 1 Hurling League Round 2: Na Piarsaigh 2-17 Monaleen 2-23. Our senior hurlers suffered a 6-point defeat on Saturday evening in Monaleen in round 2 of the league. We had a serious gale at our backs in the opening half but could only go in a point to the good at the break. We had 8 scorers in the first 30, with Kevin Downes popping up with 2 points from centre back. Wayne Kearns entered the break with 4 to his name, 3 frees, along with Dylan Lynch buring a goal. Mark Hogan had to be withdrawn early due to injury, Will Henn taking his place. Mark O'Connor had a decent game at full back, having to deal with the constant pressure of quality ball being delivered to the Monaleen full forward line. Darragh Jordan pulled off 3 great saves, 1 in the first and 2 in the second, all keeping us in the tie. Daithí Dempsey was exceptional and our standout performer on Saturday evening, demanding greater attention from our opposition. JJ would strike a goal with 5 minutes remaining to cut the margin to 2 but Monaleen responded with a handful of points and a goal of their own. They ran out deserving winners.

Division 4 Hurling League Round 2: Na Piarsaigh 1-15 Pallasgreen 2-10. Our intermediates had a hard fought win over Pallasgreen in the club on Saturday evening. Playing into a strong wind in the opening 30, we were down by 3 at half time, 1-07 to 1-04, Marcus Hogan our goalscorer. The second half started strongly but we conceded some silly frees that allowed Pallasgreen to stay in the game. Fortunately, they did the same to us with Sweeney nailing each placed ball. We would hold out for a 2-point win in what was a solid evening's work against a tough opposition. We also had a few younger lads get a taste of intermediate hurling which will stand to them as the season goes on.
Team: Evan Condon, Josh O’Halloran, Pádraig Heaney, Leo Connolly, Tadgh Mullane, Sean Long, Conor Richardson, Evan Gilvarry, Harry McGann, Jim Beary, Paul McDonagh, Jack McCarthy, Marcus Hogan, Evan Sweeney, Sam Jordan. Subs: Conor Stack & Cian Brosnan.
