Limerick will be hoping to kick-start their season in Thurles after a mixed bag of results in the round robin phase of the Munster Championship campaign.

The Shannonsiders' won one out of their four round robin games, that victory coming against Tipperary in Thurles. However, Limerick missed out on a chance for provincial glory after defeats to Cork, Waterford and Clare but they are still in the mix.

They face a Wexford team who will be looking to bounce back themselves having lost a Leinster semi-final to Galway in O'Moore Park, Portlaoise last weekend.

Limerick manager Dónal O'Grady and his management team will be delighted to have the chance to play this All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final as they look to bounce back from their Munster Championship campaign.

Speaking in the aftermath of his side's final Munster championship clash, an eight-point loss to Clare, the Granagh-Ballingarry native was delighted that his team would get another crack at the All-Ireland series.

“It's great, we're so lucky that we have a chance here to redeem ourselves because if the season ended on a performance like that (v Clare) it would really, really stick in the throat,” he said.

Limerick and Wexford throws in at 4pm as part of a double-header with Clare and Dublin doing battle at 2pm earlier in the day.
