GALBALLY are itching to get back into the senior ranks of Limerick club football after dropping down to the intermediate level two years ago.

After dropping out of the championship in the quarter-final stages of the 2023 competition, Galbally have picked themselves up and improved impressively this season to find themselves challenging for the title.

The 2024 Griffin Coaches Limerick intermediate football final between Galbally and Rathkeale takes place at Ballyagran on Sunday afternoon next, with a at 1.30pm throw-in time.

Speaking about the excitement of reaching this crucial milestone for the team, John English said: “We were hugely disappointed to bow out of the championship last year at such an early stage, we felt that we were a lot better than that.

“But this year we have gone up a level for sure, the younger lads that have come into the squad have made a huge difference to our performance and we are all really looking forward to the final now.”

Galbally will have to get the better of Rathkeale in this year’s final to move back up to the senior grade with the team falling short to them earlier this year in the group stages of the championship.

Speaking about just how stern a test he is expecting in Sunday’s final, English went on to say: “We have had some seriously tough battles against Rathkeale over the last two years and Sunday will be no different, we are expecting it from them but we feel ready to fight for this win.”
